The art of celebration: Live wedding artists on the rise

05 May 2024

The Art Nooq in Chinatown has been offering such services since 2021, before current owner Elaine Lee – a 28-year-old who studied architecture in SP and paints as a hobby – took over in February 2023. She had not heard of or seen live wedding art until acquiring the business after its previous owner moved overseas. She quickly took to the business of live painting nuptials and now employs a team of 10 part-timers, mostly students doing art-related courses in local universities and polytechnics. In 2023, her team did 20 of such wedding painting gigs, usually at churches, hotels and restaurants. To date, they have 12 bookings for 2024, and are anticipating more in coming months. Their charges start at $1,980 a canvas, depending on size.
