SP Alumni are champions in L'Oréal Brandstorm International 2017

When Team Lumos participated in L'Oréal Brandstorm Singapore 2017 held on the 31 March 2017, little did the audience know that the three team members were linked to Singapore Polytechnic. Leong Hei Kern (Gold Medallist 2013, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering) is currently studying in SUTD. Leong Hei Mern (Young Cosmetic Scientist Award 2016) and Chernis Low Guai Mun (Gold Medallist 2016, Diploma in Perfumery & Cosmetic Science) are in NUS and NTU respectively.

The Team’s journey started in January 2017, and they were one of the four teams shortlisted from more than 100 teams from NUS, NTU and SMU. In the National Finals held on 31 March 2017, their idea and presentation impressed the judges. The team represented Singapore and competed in a regional selection in May 2017.

The theme of this year’s L'Oréal Brandstorm challenge was “Disrupt Men’s Grooming with Life-changing Innovation” and there are two categories in the competition: Tech Challenge and Brand Challenge. Team Lumos won the Tech Challenge.

Team Lumos then went on to compete in the L'Oréal Brandstorm International Final in Paris and emerged the winner of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award.
