Kerjayaan – Maritime Industry

Suria, 10 Dec 2014 - Current affairs programme featured the water technology and maritime industries, as they are important industries to Singapore. SP Diploma in Hotel and Leisure Facilities Management student Muhammad Asyraf Chumino along with Diploma in Architecture student, Aqilah Alwi, were featured visiting a NeWater plant to find out the processes and technologies used in the plant. Both students were also mentioned for being on the Building and Construction Authority’s scholarship programme. The programme also featured Captain Salleh Sarwan from the Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA) at SP, who gave an insight to the maritime industry, such as the manpower needs and the continual training available to professionals. He also shared the various facilities and diplomas that SMA offers and how students are prepared to be work ready and future ready. The programme mentioned how educational institutions such as SMA nurtures the talents and skills of workers and the younger generation to provide human resource support for the maritime industry. Diploma in Nautical Studies students, Ahmad Azhary and Farhana Thair also shared more about their course, aspirations and how SP has prepared them to join the industry upon graduation.
