How to make friends post-secondary school

The article highlights the challenges and opportunities students face in building a social life during their post-secondary education. It emphasises the importance of forming meaningful connections, as students often move into more independent and less structured learning environments compared to secondary school. At SP, students are offered numerous opportunities to engage in co-curricular activities (CCAs) and campus events, which play a crucial role in fostering friendships and a sense of community. Such activities not only enhance their social lives but also contribute to personal growth and resilience. The article underscores how these platforms provide avenues for students to develop teamwork, leadership skills, and long-lasting relationships, which are essential for their overall well-being and success. SP’s Diploma in Media, Arts and Design student Megan Ching Sze Ean said: “I think being selective about whom you want to befriend and actually taking your time to know that person is so important.” She mentioned that it is helpful to join a CCA and has found a sense of community at Strictly Dance Zone, SP’s dance club.
