Work-Study Post-Diploma (Advanced Diploma in Applied Science and Engineering (Microelectronics and Materials))(WSP-NAASE) is a new proposed SkillsFuture Work-Study Programme with a focus in three (3) domains of specialisation in;

(a) advanced materials for performance,
(b) technology and product development, as well as
(c) microelectronics applications.

The programme consists of 18-month On-the-Job training (OJT) that provides diploma graduates a head start in their career supported by the company with workplace learning and development.

Only applicants who are shortlisted by SP and participating companies will be notified to attend interviews. Successful applicants employed by the participating companies will be placed under the programme.

Course Objective

The course objectives of WSP-NAASE are as follows:

(a) Provide participants with broad-based science and engineering training emphasising on concepts and applications of advanced materials within the pillar of specialty chemicals and microelectronics industry. This will include concepts and principles of encapsulation, environmental sustainability, formulation design, materials’ performance evaluation, 3D printing technology, product development, microelectronics process and nanofabrication, IC (Integrated circuit) reliability methodologies and failure analysis tools.

(b) Equip participants with essential laboratory skills in formulations as well as performance evaluation of advanced materials.

Minimum Requirements

  • The participant shall be Singapore Citizens (“SC”) or Singapore Permanent Residents (“PR”).
  • The participant shall be a fresh graduate from one of the following diploma courses offered by local polytechnics:

    • Diploma in Applied Chemistry (SP/NYP/RP)
    • Diploma in Perfumery & Cosmetic Science (SP)
    • Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (SP/RP)
    • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (SP/NP)
    • Diploma in Mechatronics & Robotics (SP)
    • Diploma in Aerospace Electronics (SP/TP)
    • Diploma in Engineering Science (NP)
    • Diploma in Automation & Mechatronic Systems (NP)
    • Diploma in Electrical Engineering (NP)
    • Diploma in Advanced & Digital Manufacturing (NYP)
    • Diploma in Nanotechnology & Materials Science (NYP)
    • Diploma in Robotics & Mechatronics (NYP)
    • Diploma in Electronics (TP)
    • Diploma in Mechatronics (TP)

  • The participant shall be within 36 months after their graduation from the PSEI (graduation date as stated on the Diploma). For male participants who need to serve National Service, the 36-month period will start from the Operationally Ready Date (“ORD”).

  • SP will evaluate the following applications on a case-by-case basis:
    • Polytechnic graduates from other Diploma courses
    • Polytechnic/ITE graduations from other Diploma courses
    • Individuals who have graduated more than 36 months but within 5 years from the PSEI (graduation date stated on the Diploma) or ORD

Work-Study Post-Diploma (Advanced Diploma in Applied Science and Engineering (Microelectronics and Materials) awarded by Singapore Polytechnic (SP)

Suitable for

Fresh graduates with a full-time Polytechnic Diploma from the relevant fields who wish to deepen their technical skills in the specialty chemicals or microelectronics industry via on-the-job training (OJT) at participating companies as full time employees in parallel with classroom learning and facilitation at Singapore Polytechnic.
