Enterprise profile

Eyesight.sg runs a chain of vision care clinics in Singapore dedicated to providing the highest level of eye care to patients. From conducting general eye examinations to managing ocular diseases like cataracts, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, its team of optometrists believes in providing every patient with warm and personalised attention.

Problem statement

To gear up for the next stage of growth, Eyesight.sg wanted to incorporate sustainability and digitalisation into its business blueprint. It decided to seek expert guidance on how best to do so.

“We needed an external consultant who would help us in our mission to develop a clear operational and technological roadmap,” said Eyesight.sg’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ken Tong Wei Jian.

So he signed his company up for Singapore Polytechnic’s Business Needs Analysis (BNA) workshop – the first optical company here to do so. BNA is one of the training tools offered by SP’s Company & Workforce Transformation (CWT) programme. It is designed to help participants determine their key goals and objectives, identify pain points or weaknesses, and work towards closing the gaps.

Impact achieved:

Conducted over two days in mid-2023, the BNA course led by SP CWT consultant Ho Chii Wen was tailored to meet Eyesight.sg’s specific business needs and support its growth strategy.

To help the company build business sustainability and strong digital capabilities, Mr Ho and his team first took time to understand Eyesight.sg’s challenges before designing a comprehensive workshop for the team.

The sessions were kept interactive to ensure the participants understood the BNA strategies and how they could be incorporated into their business sustainability plans and actions.

“SP’s BNA programme was engaging and inspired employees to look beyond their everyday tasks to see the bigger picture and impact that they can bring to the communities around them,” said Mr Tong. “It enhanced the bond among employees, and they were motivated by the consultant to challenge themselves.”

Mr Tay Jit Yang, an optometrist who has been with Eyesight.sg for five years, said the course has given him a better grasp of the company’s vision and how technology can drive its growth. This has enabled him to find ways to add value not only to the company but also its customers.

“SP’s BNA programme was engaging and inspired employees to look beyond their everyday tasks to see the bigger picture and impact that they can bring to the communities around them,” said Mr Tong.
