Global Education Leaders Converge at SP's International Learning Festival in Advancing Teaching and Learning with Generative AI and Sustainability Focus

Singapore, 24 September 2024 – In celebration of Singapore Polytechnic’s (SP) 70th anniversary, SP today hosted the International Learning Festival (ILF), uniting nearly 800 education leaders and practitioners from more than 147 Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) worldwide to celebrate achievements and collaborate on advancing teaching and learning practices in Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sustainability in Education. The ILF established SP as a leader in contributions to the local and international teaching and learning landscape. The event was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Minister of State for Education Ms Gan Siow Huang, who underscored the vital role that polytechnics play in shaping Singapore’s educational landscape and outlined how Polytechnic-ITE (POLITE) can continue to evolve and significantly contribute to this ongoing advancement of this landscape.

Singapore Polytechnic Strengthens its Position as a Leading Force in the Built Environment Sector

At BEX Asia 2024, Singapore Polytechnic (SP) solidified its commitment to driving industry transformation by inking agreements with four key industry partners: British Standards Institution, ISS Facility Services, Kajima Development and the Soilbuild Construction Group. These collaborations focused on enhancing productivity, adopting digital technologies, fostering innovations, and promoting sustainability in the built environment (BE) sector. Minister for National Development, Mr Desmond Lee, graced BEX Asia 2024 as the guest of honour.

Singapore Polytechnic Raises Over $2 Million to Empower Future Change-Makers

SINGAPORE, 12 July 2024— As Singapore Polytechnic (SP) celebrates its 70th anniversary, its staff, alumni, industry partners, and friends have raised $2,629,879.28 in endowed donations to continue providing financial assistance to SP students in need. The substantial sum will translate to over 100 bursaries of $2,500 a year in perpetuity to support SP students facing financial challenges and give them transformative opportunities to pursue their educational dreams. In the spirit of receiving and sharing, $50,000 from the donations raised will be set aside for the President’s Challenge, matched by another $50,000 from Singapore Polytechnic’s income, for a total of $100,000.

Singapore Polytechnic launches first-of-its-kind Future Food Lab

Singapore Polytechnic (SP) has launched its Future Food Lab (FFL) today to bolster the training of staff and students in the food manufacturing sector and facilitate knowledge transfer between academia and the industry. The facility was launched by the Minister of State for Education and Manpower, Ms Gan Siow Huang, at the annual Joint Polytechnic-ITE Food Manufacturing Career Fair hosted by SP.

Breaking Waves: Singapore Maritime Academy Sets Sail with Industry-Leading Methanol Fuel Handling Training Courses

In a pioneering move, Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA) has embarked on a ground-breaking journey by introducing the region's first-ever Training for Handling of Methanol as Fuel for Maritime Personnel Course approved by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) on 6 March 2024. This remarkable milestone comes on the heels of Singapore's historic Methanol Bunkering Operation on 27 July 2023, which saw a Maersk’s container vessel – the world’s first container vessel powered with methanol fuel, successfully refuelled with approximately 300 metric tonnes of bio-methanol via Hong Lam Marine’s Singapore-registered tanker, MT Agility at the Raffles Reserved Anchorage in Singapore.

Singapore Polytechnic and Qualcomm Technologies Bring Premier 5G Training to Singapore

Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc announced a joint initiative to bring Qualcomm Technologies’ premium 5G training and certification to polytechnic students in Singapore. Qualcomm Technologies’ collaboration with SP on programs from Qualcomm Academy (the educational and training arm of Qualcomm Technologies) is Qualcomm Academy’s first ever collaboration with an institution of higher learning in Singapore.
