ITAP 2024 Highlights: SP Showcases Innovations and New Partnerships in Advanced Manufacturing
October 16, 2024
It was an exciting week at the Industrial Transformation ASIA-PACIFIC (ITAP) 2024! Held from 14 – 16 October at the Singapore EXPO, this year marked Singapore Polytechnic’s (SP) seventh participation in the event, where we highlighted our strong capabilities in the advanced manufacturing sector. At ITAP 2024, we showcased our commitment to driving Industry 4.0 transformations through innovative solutions and collaborative initiatives. The three-day event featured key moments, including the signing of strategic Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) that reinforced SP’s leadership in shaping the future of advanced manufacturing and fostering meaningful industry partnerships.
Cross-Border Collaboration with Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM)
One of the key highlights of ITAP 2024 was the signing of a landmark MoU between SP and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat. This agreement marks FMM’s first partnership with a Singaporean educational institution, setting the stage for cross-border collaboration in smart manufacturing, automation, and workforce development. Through this partnership, SP and FMM will work together to enhance skills in automation and data analytics, drive industry-academia collaboration, and support workforce transformation in both Singapore and Malaysia.
Strengthening Industry Partnerships
SP also strengthened partnerships with several key industry players during a networking lunch on 14 October. This gathering provided an ideal platform for industry leaders, innovators, and SP staff to exchange ideas and explore collaboration opportunities. Dr Chong Chee Wei, Director of the Department of Technology, Innovation & Enterprise, delivered a presentation that highlighted SP's Company and Workforce Transformation (SP CWT) capabilities in the advanced manufacturing sector.
The following MoUs were signed during the networking lunch:
Advanced Manufacturing Training Academy (AMTA): SP and AMTA will collaborate on developing Industry 4.0-focused training programmes, equipping the workforce with the skills to meet the demands of smart manufacturing.
Cragar Industries: This collaboration will focus on driving innovation in manufacturing processes through joint R&D projects, helping businesses improve operational efficiency.
International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT): The partnership with INCIT will support companies in adopting Industry 4.0 technologies, driving innovation and enhancing their digital transformation journeys.
Monitor ERP: Together with SP, Monitor ERP will work on advancing enterprise resource planning solutions, enabling businesses to streamline operations and improve productivity.
Singtel: This partnership will drive the adoption of 5G and AI technologies, enhancing digital transformation efforts across sectors. Conclusion
ITAP 2024 was a tremendous success for SP, allowing us to reinforce our commitment to industry transformation through new partnerships and innovative solutions. From cross-border collaborations with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers to strengthening ties with local and international partners, SP continues to be at the forefront of industry transformation. A big thank you to all our partners, colleagues, and attendees for making this year’s ITAP participation a success. We look forward to building on these partnerships and driving further innovation in the years to come!
