Launch of New Learning Journey for the Built Environment Sector
September 04, 2024
SP made a significant contribution to the built environment sector at BEX Asia 2024 with the launch of the Built Environment (BE) Transformation Learning Journey (BETLJ), supported by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA). This new initiative is aimed at providing industry professionals with hands-on learning experiences in emerging technologies, sustainability, and smart facility management.
The BETLJ is designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry practices, offering practical insights into innovations that can enhance productivity and sustainability in the built environment. Through these learning journeys, SP is empowering industry players to embrace digitalisation and sustainability in their operations, driving long-term transformation.
In addition to the BETLJ launch, SP strengthened its role as a key industry partner by signing strategic agreements with four major industry leaders: British Standards Institution (BSI), ISS Facility Services, Kajima Development, and Soilbuild Construction Group. These collaborations aim to accelerate innovation, enhance productivity, adopt digital technologies, and promote sustainable practices in the built environment sector. Both the launch of the learning journey, as well as the signing of the MoUs, were witnessed by the Guest-of-Honour at the event, Minister for National Development, Mr Desmond Lee.
SP’s booth at the event showcased innovative solutions from students and staff under the theme “Building a Sustainable Future with Innovative Technologies.” Highlights included a mixed-reality construction workflow to improve accuracy and reduce errors, an AI-enabled parts management system for optimising inventory, and sustainable materials from the Advanced Materials Technology Centre, all demonstrating SP’s commitment to advancing digitalisation and sustainability in the built environment.
Ms Georgina Phua, Deputy Principal (Development) of Singapore Polytechnic, said, “SP is thrilled to be a key player at BEX Asia 2024. This event underscores our steadfast dedication to advancing sustainability, digitalisation, and innovation in the Built Environment sector. By partnering with major industry leaders, we aim to revolutionise the industry, empower SMEs, and nurture future talent. Our integrated approach sets new industry benchmarks, solidifying our position as a leader in driving industry transformation and fostering meaningful advancements.”
With the launch of the BETLJ and its strategic industry partnerships, SP continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the built environment, ensuring that the sector remains innovative, sustainable, and competitive in the years to come.
