Stronger Industry Collaborations Forged at HR Learning Fest 2024

August 02, 2024

SP hosted the second edition of the HR Learning Fest (HRLF) 2024, graced by Ms Gan Siow Huang, Minister of State for Education and Manpower. The event, held in conjunction with SkillsFuture Festival 2024 by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG,) brought together HR professionals, industry leaders, and educators to shape the future of human resource management and equip people leaders with the tools and strategies to navigate the evolving HR landscape.

Themed “Heart of Business: How HR Weave Skills and People Together,” HRLF 2024 emphasised the critical role of core skills in the modern workplace. The event provided key insights on how forward-thinking employers can address workforce challenges by aligning mindsets, skillsets, and behaviours to meet shifting demands while promoting employee wellness and productivity.

A key highlight of the event was the launch of the HR Learning Journey (HRLJ): Building Companies of Good - People (or BCOG-People), supported by the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) and the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC). This learning journey, aimed at first-line managers (FLMs) and people leaders, focuses on helping organisations adopt sustainable people strategies that enhance corporate wellness and business performance. By implementing flexible work arrangements (FWA) and promoting staff wellness, companies can build a more resilient and engaged workforce, contributing to long-term sustainability and success.

To further elevate HR capabilities, SP introduced new SSG-funded workshops under its Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses. These include “Effective Leadership Skills for First-Line Managers,” developed with McDonald’s Singapore to integrate McDonald’s business practices into actionable workplace skills. SP will also launch a Flexible Work Arrangements (FWAs) course in collaboration with TAFEP. Certified by the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP), this course provides an FWA Skills badge and continuing professional development (CPD) hours, equipping participants with essential tools for implementing FWAs successfully.

In conjunction with HRLF 2024, SP signed seven Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with key industry partners, including CGS International Securities, Elitez, Giti-Tire, McDonald’s Singapore, the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP), Ninja Van, and TAFEP. These partnerships aim to drive workforce development, enhance HR capabilities, and ensure that graduates and working professionals are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in an evolving HR landscape.

“These partnerships demonstrate our commitment to advancing HR talent development and promoting business sustainability. The HR Learning Journey: Building Companies of Good - People (BCOG-People) exemplifies our dedication to inspiring leaders to embrace sustainable people strategies that enhance corporate wellness and elevate business performance,” said SP Principal and CEO, Mr Soh Wai Wah.

Through these strategic collaborations and initiatives, SP continues to position itself as a key player in driving industry transformation, ensuring that businesses are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for success in today’s dynamic workforce environment.
