Ministerial Visit To FIRC @ SP

On 5 Jan 2022, Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Economics Policies and Chairman of National Research Foundation Heng Swee Keat visited Food Innovation Resource Centre (FIRC) @ SP to understand more about the centre’s efforts in supporting technology translation and talent development for food industry over the years; also, FIRC’s role in the larger ecosystem, collaborating with research institutes, institutes of higher learning and trade associations to support the innovations and growth of local enterprises. DPM Heng was given a tour of the facilities, viewing of product showcases and interacted with FIRC colleagues and industry partners who inspiringly shared about their innovation journey, challenges and future plans.

Innovation Journey #1: GOOD Meat

First of its kind worldwide! FIRC is honoured to work with GOOD Meat in facilitating the regulatory approval and successful commercialisation of cell-cultured meat product.

 

Innovation Journey #2: NovaMeats

With a manufacturing plant established in Taian City in China, NovaMeats will increase its presence to the rest of the country with the sales of the plant-based meat products developed by FIRC. FIRC is privileged to continue partnering NovaMeats in their expansion plan, helping them with their new innovation initiatives that will see an increase in the company’s product offerings.

 

Innovation Journey #3: Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery

Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery has come a long way since its inception in 1960’s and has always been looking for innovation solutions to level up. Other than assisting in product innovations to develop healthier nonya kuehs, FIRC is also helping the progressive company to look into improving its operation productivity through digitalisation solution.
