Plant-Based Diets For Sport Performance Seminar
September 27, 2019
This annual event was held as part of continuing education for members of the Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association (SNDA) to keep abreast with latest findings and trends in the area of sports nutrition. The panel of speakers included a sport nutrition expert and a vegan sports athlete to share on the themed topic. The seminar was co-sponsored by Singapore Polytechnic (Student Development & Alumni Relations and the Food Innovation & Resources Centre).
As Singapore Polytechnic had provided the venue free of charge, we had included 50 free seats for SP alumni as well as staff and students. The program was purposefully built with allocated time for FIRC to present on our capabilities and innovations. An FIRC booth was also set up to showcase a trendy vegan food concept (nut milk beverage) with tasting made available. Two other booths were also set up to showcase food products manufactured by Monde Nissin and Sustenance, who had sponsored the event.
The turn up for SP registrants was about 50 %, made up by mostly SP students. The fact that the seminar took place on a Saturday could have hindered a better turn up rate. Nonetheless, the response and feedback from the session was mostly positive. Many attendees visited the FIRC booth with queries on our services and offered good feedback on the nut milk sample drink.
