In Singapore, the current means of regulating vehicles entering private estates require a great amount of time and effort where security must physically record down the license plates in a logbook. Introducing FastLPR, an AI-capable embedded device which able to perform license plate recognition. With the usage of lightweight yet scalable object detection and optical character recognition models, FastLPR can achieve prediction timings of less than a second with near-perfect accuracies with high fault-tolerance. Thanks to FastLPR, the entire process of logging entry and exits of vehicles can be automated without the risk of human error.
