This Data Protection Statement sets out how we use and protect any information that you give to the Singapore Polytechnic, to demonstrate our firm commitment to protect alumni information.
Should we ask you to provide certain information, you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this statement.
We reserve the right to change this Data Protection Statement from time to time by updating this page.
- What we do with the information we gather
Your alumni record includes the information you provided as a student. This information is only updated if you provide it voluntarily. The data is kept indefinitely. Any information submitted by an individual may be used to update that individual’s
record.
The alumni data collected is limited to what is necessary to facilitate the carrying out of activities by SP as your alma mater. It will be kept confidential and will be used strictly for SP alumni engagement programs. We may share necessary
data with other Government agencies, so as to serve you in a most efficient and effective way, unless such sharing is prohibited by law. We will NOT share your personal data with non-Government entities, except where such entities have
been authorised to carry out specific Government services.
SP recognises the importance of safeguarding personal information. SP has put in place appropriate physical, technical and administrative procedures to minimize the risk of unauthorized access to alumni data, to maintain data accuracy and
to ensure the appropriate use of information.
- Accessing and Correcting Your Personal Information
If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please update your personal information. We will correct any information found to be incorrect within 4 weeks.
- Opting Out of Communications
To opt out of receiving communications on SP alumni news and information, please email to SPAN@sp.edu.sg. Please note that this process may take up to 4 weeks to take effect.
Please be aware that if you fully opt out, you will not receive all SP alumni news and information. We plan to increasingly send communications via email, so you may miss out on future notifications if you fully opt out, e.g. event notifications.
Please note that your details will still be held on the alumni database to facilitate disclosure of your personal information as required by law in connection with judicial or administrative proceedings, or in order to fulfil a statutory obligation.
We may still share necessary data with other non-Government entities to carry out specific Government services.
