At the age of 16, I dropped out from secondary school because I lost the interest in studying. I have literally no goal in life after I became a school dropout and tried to find a stable job just to support myself but to no avail as I did not even have an ‘N’ Level Certificate.

As time goes by, my parents became very disappointed and upset because they felt that they failed in parenting. I realized that my decision back then was selfish and reckless and so I took on private ‘N’ and ‘O’ levels while doing odd jobs. At the age of 19, I finally got into ITE and subsequently enrolled into Singapore Polytechnic after serving 2 years of NS.

Diploma in Integrated Events and Project Management (DEPM) was my first choice because DEPM is able to provide me with essential soft skills and hard skills that were needed to be work ready and life ready in the dynamic and challenging industry. Choosing Singapore Polytechnic and DEPM is one of the best choices I have made in my life because I get the opportunity to learn from the best lecturers, to learn in a conducive and ideal environment including oversea study trip opportunities as well as making new great friends along the way.  During my 3 years course of study, I get to be involved in major events including Singapore International Water Week 2012, Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign 2013 and the chance to lead and participate in the MICE Destination Marketing Contest 2014 in Taiwan. Besides that, the 22-week internship opportunity also propelled me to gain greater exposure and broadened my experience in both local and oversea major events.

Lastly, I would like to thank all my wonderful lecturers, classmates and friends in SP for making my experience in SP a memorable and positive one. Without the joy, laughter, guidance and efforts coming from the lecturers, classmates and friends, I would not have made it this far today.
