Diploma in Interior Design
Class of 2022
Looking back, my three years journey of self-discovery in ABE felt like a constant roller coaster of stress and relief. I learnt more about myself, my talents and my interests. I learnt how to manage my stress and my mental health while juggling my work
and projects. And while things could sometimes get rough, I had a good mix of caring lecturers, friendly classmates and friends that made ABE a safe space. I especially remember how before COVID-19 hit, we were able to do fun things as a group, such
as dress in theme outfits, amidst the many project submissions.
Outside of the classroom, I was a member of the Singapore Polytechnic Sign Language Club, where I learnt and shared knowledge about sign language and deaf culture knowledge with the wonderful friends I made. As fellow committee members,
we organized activities, events and classes and supported each other through the stresses of school life and projects. Thanks to them, I could enjoy both my CCA activities and focus on my projects.
The most rewarding experience I had here
was my internship. Through the internship, I managed to learn a great deal about the industry and myself as a designer. I was able to put what I learnt into context and gain insights into the many ways I can grow in the industry. Personally, the internship
has pushed me into looking out for details and practicing multiple skill sets that are not directly in Interior Design but are an asset to any designer.
My time in SP ABE has been rewarding. I grew from an amateur who chose the Diploma
in Interior Design purely out of interest, to a confident graduate eager to put the skills I learnt into my future career.
