EEE students in SP team that won First Runner-Up at Dell InnovateFest 2024
Two DCPE students were part of SP team SocialPilots that secured the First Runner-Up position at Dell InnovateFest 2024 on 26 Sep 2024, winning $6,000 in cash prize. This hackathon competition included
teams from polytechnics and universities across Singapore, with a focus on empowering persons with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs) to foster healthy interactions and appropriate social etiquette in the workplace.
Team SocialPilots, comprising DCPE Year 2 students Sathivada Chandan Akshaj and Leroy Hong Jae Yang and three other students from Diploma in Applied AI and Analytics, and under the guidance of Ms. Dora Chua and Mr. Ilyas, developed Bloom, a cloud-native
web app with an intuitive AI assistant.
Bloom aimed to help PWIDs navigate workplace challenges by providing solutions, emotion-management videos to enhance their essential skills such as independence and emotional regulation. Its gamified feature allowed users to grow a virtual plant as they
interact with the app, symbolising their progress and development. Just like a flower in full bloom, users can grow, thrive, and confidently embrace the world around them.
