BRONZE AWARD FOR EEE TEAM AT IES COMMUNITY INNOVATION CHALLENGE 2017

3 DEEE 3rd year students, Denzil Ang Xue Wen, Valent Chia Shu Wei and Chin Yong Kang, together with 2 DEEE fresh graduates, Ho Hsiao 3 DEEE 3rd year students, Denzil Ang Xue Wen, Valent Chia Shu Wei and Chin Yong Kang, together with 2 DEEE fresh graduates, Ho Hsiao Chong and Yang Quanliang, won the Bronze award at the IES Community Innovation Challenge 2017 on 29 Apr 2017.

Their project, entitled Eye Tracker Based Communicator & Home Device Control for Disabled, was a computer-interfaced-based communicator and home device wireless control system for the disabled. It was developed using Eye Tracker. The system detects the eye ball movement and mirrors it on the computer screen. By just looking at the computer monitor, the disabled is able to express his or her daily needs to caregivers easily, send message to them when they are not around, have an active social life by surfing internet, communicate with others through various social networking platforms, enjoy entertainment from online TV/videos, listen to online radio and play computer games. The system also allows the disabled to wirelessly control home devices such as light, curtain and fan.
