SP team in Third Place at international RoboCup Bangkok 2022

SP team, Robo-Erectus@Work, won Third Place for the RoboCup@Work League in the international RoboCup Bangkok 2022, held at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) from 11 to 17 Jul 2022.  Out of 11 teams, SP team was the only team from a Polytechnic; while the others comprised mostly PhD students from universities in Iran, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, and Denmark.  Robo-Erectus@Work was also ranked No. 1 for two challenges – “Coworker Assembly Test” and “Real Object Test”.

RoboCup@Work is a relatively new competition in RoboCup that targets the use of robots in work-related scenarios.  It aims to foster research and development that enable the use of innovative mobile robots equipped with advanced manipulators and sensors for current and future industrial applications, where robots assist human workers in complex tasks ranging from manufacturing, automation, and parts handling up to general logistics. The only team representing Singapore, Robo-Erectus@Work had qualified to participate in the international Robocup Bangkok 2022 after winning First Place in the regional RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2021 (Aichi, Japan), held virtually from 25 to 29 Nov2021.
