Moving into the World of Industry 4.0 with Singapore Polytechnic (SP)_1

This year’s Asia-Pacific's largest event on Industry 4.0 took place at Singapore Expo from 22 to 24 October 2019. The Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific (ITAP) 2019 creates ample opportunities for participating enterprises to network and promote the adoption of Industry 4.0 solutions. 

Guest-of-Honour, Mr Heng Swee Keat, Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, graced the opening ceremony of the event on 22 October 2019. 

Singapore Polytechnic (SP) also participated in this massive event with the intention of journeying with companies towards Industry 4.0. The aims are to help companies transform digitally and build strong digital capabilities. Real solutions and capabilities of SP were being showcased over the 3 days at ITAP 2019. The takeaways for participants were as follows:

  1. Automation to achieve better efficiency & efficacy.
  2. Connectivity through Internet of Things (IoT) to get clean data.
  3. Data to make decisions.

Some of the highlights of SP were the Augmented Reality (AR) version of SP campus, showing how SP campus has transformed with 10 Consultancy and Technology Centres; Microlearning course on Advanced Manufacturing (AM) that aligns to the SingaporeSmart Industry Readiness Index (SSIRI); AR version of the 6 areas of Company Workforce Transformation; 5-day flagship overseas immersion programme – AMLead, which targets at Senior Leaders of local manufacturing companies; Autonomous Intelligent Vehicle in collaboration with SESTO Robotics Pte Ltd (SESTO); Robotic Café showcasing the digitalisation process of a legacy system; Solutions in Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT); Training and Consultancy with SP’s Energy and Chemicals Training Centre (ECTC); Innovative solutions for Advanced Manufacturing – Additive Manufacturing; Data Science & Analytics with SP’s Data Science and Analytics Centre (DSAC). 

ITAP 2019 successfully ended on 24 October 2019 and it was definitely a fruitful one for SP!
