The advance of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) technologies and Industrial Data Analytics (IDA) enabled the team to develop a “Smart Factory” and its applications. With this, the efficiency in production workflow and plant operation management
is improved as the manufacturing processes are linked by a unified communication network and digital services.
The solution showcases a smart factory setup or smart workflow in an intelligent, autonomous and self-optimising system, with six workflow stations that simulate different manufacturing processes. The workflow provides a smart automation platform
with customised applications and features various i4.0 digital technologies at different workflow stations. Smart service robots provide transportation for parts and products between the stations, and IoT technologies allow an operator
to manage the entire system through a central monitoring and control system.
This solution incorporates advanced technologies like human-robot collaboration, automation management and smart control systems, and demonstrates the great potential available to improve productivity and meet the needs of the manufacturing
industry in Singapore.
