Autonomous Guided Vehicle (AGV)

AGV ID1Students discussing about AGV.

AGV ID2Students posing with their AGV project.

There has been an increasing need for autonomous vehicles in industry 4 automation, where the vehicle is implemented as an integral part of the industrial ecosystem and transports components between process stations. The vehicle is capable of performing navigation and moving to specified destinations. Path planning and collision avoidance ensures that the vehicle travels safely to the destination.

An autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) is designed and developed that can transport components in an indoor production floor. It features autonomous navigation and control, where the vehicle can move to a pick-up point upon remote request and send the component to a selected destination. It incorporates navigation and anti-collision sensors to cater to human traffic, has manual and autonomous controls and has automatic battery charging capabilities. The project is carried out in several phases to incorporate various levels of autonomous control and application.
