Learning (Physics) Laboratories @ T723, T724 and T725
MS has three learning laboratories that support the Physics and Engineering & Technology Project modules of the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP). These laboratories provide students with the space and equipment to conduct physics experiments, engineering projects and to participate in demonstrations. Through these hands-on activities, the students discover physics concepts in an engaging and interactive manner, broaden their knowledge and develop critical thinking skills.
The design and layout of the laboratories encourage collaborative learning. Each bench has four seats arranged in a square which facilitates discussion among students. The lecturer can easily walk around the classroom to observe students and facilitate learning.
In order to effectively integrate IT into teaching, each lab is equipped with three projectors. Each desk has laptop power points and video inputs for the students to showcase their work to the rest of the class. Internet access is also readily available. iPads are also used in some experiments and demonstrations.
Up-to-date equipment, components and apparatus are readily available for use in projects, to ensure that experiments and demonstrations are effective and pedagogically sound. The collection of equipment also includes everyday items to emphasize the relevance of physics to daily life. Safety equipment is also available to minimize the risk of injury.
