Specialist diploma in Energy Efficiency and Management (NSEEM) is designed to develop the technical skills and competence of engineering professionals needed to manage and track energy usage within the organisation they serve. It gives a thorough understanding of the key energy issues in the building sector. The modules are designed to cover the new Associate Singapore Certified Energy Manager (ASCEM) curriculum (Annex E).
This course has four (4) different modules which aim to provide a varied exposure to the participants.
Participants will gain working knowledge of the design principles and operation of air-conditioning systems used in commercial and industrial buildings.
Participants will be provided with an integrated system approach to understanding Building Automation and Facility Management Systems and their applications to energy efficiency for building services.
Participants will obtain knowledge to lead an energy audit, perform energy performance diagnosis and analysis, prepare and provide sound recommendation and report. They will learn to identify the main energy intensive areas within a facility resulted from air-conditioning, thereby suggest appropriate energy conservation measures to reduce the operating cost of the facility while improving efficiency.
Participants will learn about the causes of power quality issues, and the effects on power system equipment, mitigation methods and power quality monitoring.
The course is a one-year part-time programme that has two post diploma certificates (PDC). Each PDC comprises of 2 modules as detailed below.
Certificate in Integrative Energy Efficient Building Design
Integrated Building Management System (IBMS) for Energy Efficiency
Air Conditioning, Compressed Air and Boiler Systems (ACCABS)
Certificate in Energy System Management
Power Quality and Energy Systems (PQES)
Energy Management, Appraisal and Economy (EMAE)
