Course Objective

Upon completion of the programme, the student will be able to:

  • apply responsive web user interaction design.
  • develop both front-end and back-end web applications.
  • design, develop and deploy a full stack web application.
  • apply agile software project management best practices.

 

Notes:

  1. WSP Company refers to companies that has joined the programme as an employer of the WSPostDip-SDFSW student (WSP Students). Companies must be Singapore-registered or incorporated and could be from various sectors, which includes both MNCs and SMEs.
  2. Fresh ICT Diploma graduates refers to Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents Diploma graduates from Polytechnics or ITE who are within three years of graduation or Operationally Ready Date for full-time National Servicemen.

Course Outline

The Work-Study Post-Diploma (Specialist Diploma in Full Stack Web Development) Programme is a work-learn study programme designed to give fresh Infocomm Technology Diploma graduates from polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) a head start in careers. It provides them with opportunities, after graduation, to build on the skills and knowledge they acquired in school, and better supports their transition into the workforce as well as obtaining a specialist diploma at the end of the programme.

At the end of the programme, the student will acquire and deepen their skills in full stack web development as well as obtain a specialist diploma. They will also acquire practical skills through structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) under the guidance of a company mentor in the WSP company(1). On top of that, the student will receive a $5,000 sign-on incentive for fresh ICT diploma graduates(2)  upon successful completion the programme.

PDC in Front-End Development

  • Module 1: Front-End Web Development
  • Module 2: Web and Mobile Programming

Semester 2
PDC in Back-End Development

  • Module 3: Web Development using Frameworks
  • Module 4: Back-End Development and Deployment
  • Module 5: Capstone

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must be Singapore Citizens (“SC”) or Singapore Permanent Residents.

  • The participant shall be a fresh graduate from one of the following diploma courses offered by local polytechnics: 
    • Diploma in Information Technology (SP/NP/NYP/RP/TP)
    • Diploma in Infocomm Security Management (SP/RP)
    • Diploma in Applied AI & Analytics (SP)
    • Diploma in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics (NP/NYP/TP)
    • Diploma in Infocomm & Security (NYP)
    • Diploma in Game Development & Technology (NYP)
    • Diploma in Business Information Systems (RP)
    • Diploma in Financial Technology (RP)

  • The participant shall be within 36 months after their graduation from the PSEI (graduation date as stated on the Diploma). For male participants who need to serve National Service, the 36-month period will start from the Operationally Ready Date (“ORD”).

  • SP will evaluate the following applications on a case-by-case basis:
    • Polytechnic/ITE graduates from other Diploma courses
    • Individuals who have graduated more than 36 months but within 5 years from the PSEI (graduation date stated on the Diploma) or ORD

Certification / Accreditation


PDC 1: Post Diploma Certificate 1 in Certificate in Front-End Development
PDC 2: Post Diploma Certificate 2 in Certificate in Back-End Development

Upon completion of the two Post-Diploma Certificates and fulfilment of the skills competency through on-the-job training within the twelve-month validity period, participants will be conferred the Specialist Diploma in Full Stack Web Development from Singapore Polytechnic.

This course is suitable for fresh full-time polytechnic or ITE Diploma graduates who wish to acquire full stack web development skillsets so as to prepare themselves for a career in the infocomm industry.
