Course Objective

Singapore strives to become a “Smart Nation” through harnessing digital technologies to provide better transport systems, living environment, business productivity, healthcare and public sector services for all Singapore residents. To build a smart nation, computer network and systems are key infrastructure facilities for smart healthcare, smart building, smart mobility, smart Energy and many other areas. 

To meet this increasing demand for IT Network and System engineers, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is pleased to introduce our Diploma in Engineering (Computer Network and Systems). This part-time evening course can be completed in 2.5 year.

This course aims to equip students with good working knowledge and skills required for the deployment, operation and support of computer networks infrastructure, development of info-comm services, computer/embedded systems and IoT systems. The modules have been carefully selected to cover the technical skills and knowledge highly in-demand for career in IT networks and systems industry.

Course Outline

The course is a one-year part-time programme. It consists of 2 Post Diploma Certificates (PDC) conducted over 2 semesters, 1 PDC per semester. The first PDC to start with is PDC1. The classes are conducted in the evening.

This course consists of 2 post diploma certificates (PDCs). Each PDC comprises a few modules and the details are as follows:

Semester One

PDC 1 Certificate in Network Administration
Module 1 – Network Server Administration
Module 2 – Computer Communications

 

Semester Two

PDC 2 Certificate in Computer Networking
Module 3 – Computer Networking
Module 4 – Internetworking
Module 5 – Network Integration Projects

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have a polytechnic diploma from a recognised institution. Foreign equivalent qualifications or other qualifications will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.

Certification / Accreditation


Upon completion of two Certificates within a two-year validity period, the participant will be conferred a Diploma (Conversion) qualification from Singapore Polytechnic.
