23-year-old designer Vivien Ong opted for the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn programme (ELP) despite having a high-grade point average of 3.5 out of 4. ***

ELPs allow fresh polytechnic (or ITE**) graduates to work as full-time employees, while pursuing a postgraduate qualification.

51-year-old sales person Rebecca Seah decided to opt for Workforce Singapore’s Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) despite winning the Best Salesperson award 3 times! *

PCPs are for Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs) to reskill to move to a different job, industry or sector.

As of mid-2018, ...

  • ...more than 2,300 fresh graduates from any of the 5 polytechnics and ITE have joined SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme (ELP). ††
  • ...more than 10,000 PMETs have found jobs via PCPs.

Stats and stories are good, but what do they mean?

2 government initiatives, 1 objective - to help professionals hone their skills and stay relevant in a future-ready job landscape. With the digital revolution in full swing, focus in today’s job market has expanded from just degrees to include skills and competencies as well!

Both ELPs and PCPs are work-learn programmes introduced by the government to build a resident workforce trained in emerging skills. Here’s how they differ!

Earn and Learn Programmes (ELPs)

Professional Conversion Programmes (PCPs)

ELPs help fresh graduates gain relevant industry exposure, while pursuing their studies.

PCPs are career conversion programmes that help working adults train in emerging technologies.

Typical duration is between 1 and 1.5 years.

Typical duration is between 3 months and 2 years.
