• Reduction in number of road accidents: Advanced traffic sensors collect real-time data (e.g. potholes, traffic diversions) that’s processed via AI and shared with on-road vehicles.
• Increased efficiency of logistics operations: IoT sensors provide location and route updates, track real-time weather conditions as well as detect whether an item has been damaged
• Predictive maintenance in factories: Sensors connected to industrial equipment generate a lot of real-time data that’s analysed to predict any sudden maintenance requirement, preventing unexpected interruptions

Here we are barely scratching the surface of the immense potential that 5G has of transforming the world as we know it. With Singtel collaborating with global ICT leader, Ericsson to drive high-end 5G connectivity, Singapore is set to be among the first to benefit from the innovations 5G brings to the table.

As Singapore's 5G rollout gathers momentum, there’s a high demand for professionals trained in 5G and emerging technologies. To drive 5G manpower development, training veteran, Singapore Polytechnic (SP) has collaborated with Ericsson to jointly develop a series of 5G-relevant courses.

Role of 5G in Digital Transformation

SP incorporates the local relevant use cases and possible applications of 5G technology provided by Ericsson in the course curriculum and delivers them across multiple industry domains and sectors. You can learn more about the courses here.
