Machines, automobiles and computers powered the first 3 Industrial Revolutions between the 18th and 20th centuries. Now, we are in the middle of the 4th Industrial Revolution led by artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, robotics and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Advanced Manufacturing is the process of using these emerging technologies in the manufacturing process, leading to what is called smart factories. In smart factories, digital technologies are combined with machines to create an integrated cyber-physical system that enhances both productivity and product quality.
