Use of Technology to Mitigate Mosquitos Breeding in JTC Eco Garden

With parks filled with lush greenery and an ecosystem of nature, normal regular fogging with insecticides is prohibited in such an environment. Exercising normal pest control measures to mitigate mosquito breeding posed a challenge to the facilities manager of the garden. This project explores innovative ideas to mitigate mosquito infestation in the JTC-managed Jurong Eco Garden (JEG).

The students recommended an integrated management approach to manage mosquito breeding. Their work includes creating an alerting app for mosquitos sighted by garden visitors and installing mosquito traps and a trail camera to detect the presence of wild boars that create water stagnation spots in the garden.
