The program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills in Process operations, as well as occupational safety and health to support the Chemical, Petrochemical, and Pharmaceutical industries' continued growth. It also incorporates elements of Sustainability specifically tailored to these industries, empowering participants to contribute achieving Environmental Sustainability. This course has a heightened focus on theoretical concepts, as well as preparation and planning prior to operation.
SP PACE SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme | SCTP
This course is designed to equip participants with the mindset, as well as “just in time” knowledge and skills to excel in any company Induction Programme, while shortening their learning curves. Upon finishing the programme, participants will possess necessary skills, such as operating equipment in product systems, monitoring measuring instruments and equipment, cleaning, maintenance, and minor repair work in production systems. Participants will, consequently, effectively transit to the Chemical, Petrochemical, and Pharmaceutical industries providing a novel work environment significantly varying from their prior work experiences.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the importance workplace safety plays in the Chemical industry
- Identify and assess common hazards present in Process industry environments
- Apply the Hierarchy of Controls for risk mitigation
- Follow proper protocols to safely handle and store chemicals
- Identify and wear specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary for various tasks in Process industries
- Explain advantages and importance of digital transformation in Process Safety practices
- Describe common unit operations and their operating principles
- Describe the types of Process utilities and their uses
- Identify unit operations and utilities, in given Process units
- Perform design calculations related to fluid flow in pipes, and heat transfer between fluids
- Explain operation and control of separation Process units, based on their respective governing principles
- Identify opportunities for introduction of Sustainable practices in Process plants
- Use technical drawings to perform routine tasks in Process industries, such as line-tracing
- Plan and perform minor maintenance and utility tie-in
- Prepare, operate, and monitor pumping systems and heat transfer equipment
- Confidently and safely start-up, operate, as well as shutdown a separation equipment based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Smoothly maintain a unit operation using basic process control concepts
- Explain the relevance of digitalisation in the Process industry
- Discuss emerging trends and technologies in digitalisation
- Use wearable technologies and smart device to optimise performance, facilitating the execution of tasks with greater ease and efficiency
