The course is designed to equip participants with a framework to support aging-in-place initiatives within the community to optimise health outcomes and enhance quality of life in the aging population while preparing seniors for end-of-life planning ethically. 

Course Objective

The course is designed to equip participants with a framework to support aging-in-place initiatives within the community to optimise health outcomes and enhance quality of life in the aging population while preparing seniors for end-of-life planning ethically.

Course Outline

By the end of the Course, participants will be able to:  

  1. Apply the necessary psychosocial support and  intervention of care  

  1. Identify the developmental stages and common health problems of older persons 

  1. Apply principles of professional, legal and ethical conduct procedures in intervention therapy.  

  1. Create a safe, healthy and hygienic environment for the older person in their care 

  1. Apply effective communication and active listening skills in an intergenerational and multicultural environment 

  1. Develop strategies to advocate and promote active aging initiatives 

  1. Plan for end-of-life care for eg. Lasting power of Attorney, Advance Medical Directive etc 

  1. Provide quality caregiving and assistance in activities of daily living

- Understanding Stages of Health in Seniors 

- Fundamentals of ethical caregiving 

- Communicating well with the elderly 

- Relating well with families and stakeholders

Basic English Proficiency

Certification / Accreditation

• Certificate of Attendance (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who meet at least 75% attendance rate

• Certificate of Completion (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment and meet at least 75% attendance rate
