Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is widely used in companies for automatic data processing. Beyond the powerful data processing capabilities, Excel Visual Basic for Applications can also be used for creating real-time dashboard, accessing database, communicating with machines using standard industrial protocols and so on. These features make Excel Visual Basic for Applications a useful tool in industrial automation as well.

Course Objective

This course aims to demonstrate participants how to use Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to run procedure periodically, create a real-time dashboard, read/write to My Structured Query Language (MySQL) database, and send Outlook email. Communications using Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) and Application Programming Interface (API) are also included.

Course Outline

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Develop basic VBA procedures
Create dynamic dashboard
Interact with MySQL database through reading and writing
Transmit Outlook using VBA
Implement a simple user authentication procedure
Communicate with machine using OPC UA
Call REST API in VBA

Minimum Requirements

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and basic level of concept in programming.
