Course Objective

This course is one of the Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health's modules.

It aims to address need for Workplace Safety, Health Supervising, as well as Workplace Safety and Health Coordinating to manage behavioural safety programmes, in an organisation.

Course Outline

In alignment with Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC), at the end of the course, participants will be able to:

- Describe the characteristics of Behavioural Safety versus Traditional Safety
- Design Behavioural Safety Programme (BSP) parameters
- Conduct organisational readiness study methodologies to determine BSP implementation for organisations
- Determine the types of at-risk and critical behaviours causing accidents and incidents at the workplace
- Determine the modes and frequency of data collection
- Establish the roles, responsibilities, and training of BSP Steering Committee
- Conduct periodic follow-up with relevant stakeholders to ensure BSP is implemented in accordance with organisational procedures
- Describe the types of data collected for analysis during BSP
- Apply the different types of BSP review techniques and tools
- Analyse the different types of BSP performance gaps
- Establish the types of corrective and preventive actions to rectify BSP performance gaps

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet any of the following entry requirements aligned to that for Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health.

Track 1

  • A recognised Technology/Science-related diploma / Engineering degree; AND
  • At least 2 years of WSH relevant working experience


OR

Track 2

  • Possess ES Workplace Literacy (Reading, Writing, Listening &Speaking) Level 6 or GCE 'O' Level English grade C6; AND
  • Possess ES Workplace Numeracy Level 6 or GCE'O' Level Maths grade C6, or Mathematics bridging course; AND
  • Possess GCE 'O' Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Physics bridging course; AND
  • Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH; AND
  • At least 2 years of post-qualification3 working experience as WSH Supervisor, Coordinator or similar occupational role


OR

Track 3

  • Possess ES Workplace Literacy (Reading, Writing, Listening &Speaking) Level 6 or GCE 'O' Level English grade C6; AND
  • Possess ES Workplace Numeracy Level 6 or GCE 'O' Level Maths grade C6, or Mathematics bridging course; AND
  • Possess GCE 'O' Level Science (Physics) grade C6, or Physics bridging course; AND
  • Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Advanced Certificate in WSH; AND
  • At least 5 years of WSH-related working experience, 2 years of which should be recent working experience, (e.g., a WSH Supervisor / Coordinator)

Certification / Accreditation

Statement of Attainment

  • A Statement of Attainment will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment and meet at least 75% attendance rate
