Course Objective

This course refreshes participants' knowledge and skills in Maritime communications, as well as the ability to operate a Maritime mobile communication station (as required for all Sea Areas). Proper use of the latest Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS) equipment, on-board ship, is emphasised via hands-on simulation.

Course Outline

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Operate a Maritime mobile communication station, as required for all sea areas
Respond to Distress, Urgency, Safety, and Routine situations
Apply the Principles of Search and Rescue (SAR) Communication during SAR operations

Minimum Requirements

Basic computer skills, good working knowledge of English (written & spoken), and have no serious impediment of speech, hearing or sight, as well as have normal colour vision

* Candidates must also hold a valid GMDSS GOC

Certification / Accreditation

• Certificate of Attendance (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who meet at least 75% attendance rate

• Certificate of Completion (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment and meet at least 75% attendance rate
