Course Objective

As Singapore strives becoming a Smart Nation, Cybersecurity becomes more important as more data and functions are programmed into computers, handphones, networks and other devices. The 2.5-year Part-Time Diploma in Infocomm & Digital Media (CyberSecurity) course will cover different areas of the field.

The Diploma in Infocomm & Digital Media (Cyber Security) aims training participants to work competently in the area of Cybersecurity, particularly in the area of penetration testing/vulnerabilities assessment, as well as incident response and management.

Course Outline

The course is a 2.5 years Part-Time programme. It consists of 5 Modular Certificates (MC) conducted over 5 semesters, 1 MC per semester. The classes are conducted in the evenings. Each MC comprises three modules and the details are as follows:

Minimum Requirements

Applicants with any of the following qualifications are invited to apply for the Part-Time diploma:

a) The following GCE 'O' Level grades and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience:

  • English Language Grade 1 – 7
  • Mathematics (Elementary or Additional) Grade 1 – 6
  • Science Grade 1 – 6


OR
b) Nitec with GPA >= 3.5 in an engineering or information technology discipline.

OR
c) Nitec with GPA >= 3.0 in an engineering or information technology discipline and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience.

OR
d) Nitec in Technology with GPA >= 3.5 in an engineering or information technology discipline and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience.

OR
e) Higher Nitec in an engineering or information technology discipline with GPA >=2.0

OR
f) Higher Nitec in an engineering or information technology discipline with GPA >=1.5 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.

OR
g) Higher Nitec in Technology in an engineering or information technology discipline with GPA >=2.0 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.

OR
h) Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) with at at least 1 year of relevant working experience and Level 6 for both WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA & Workplace Numeracy SOA

OR
i) Applicant with none of the qualifications listed above but at least 2 years of relevant working experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applicants, not meeting the entry requirements, may be considered, based on supporting evidence of competency readiness. Shortlisted applicants may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.

Certification / Accreditation

Upon completion of five Certificates within a five-year validity period, the participant will be conferred a Diploma qualification from Singapore Polytechnic.

Suitable for

Working adults, wishing to acquire skills and knowledge for seeking a job in the Cybersecurity industry, or progress in their Cybersecurity careers

Programming is taught in this Infocomm diploma, which some participants may find challenging. For some examples on what they will learn, interested applicants can check the following online video, on JavaScript, out:


Participant can sign up to attempt the EC Council’s Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) examination, with online self-study course materials at a discounted student price (self-financed)

They are required to bring computer laptops with admin access for running virtual machines (preferably Windows OS and recommended 16GB RAM for running multiple virtual machines) for onsite sessions
