Course Objective

This course aims equipping participants with fundamental knowledge and skills for the Chemical Manufacturing industry, to function as Process Technicians. Principles of Process, Measurement, Control and Correct, as well as Different types of Control Loops are covered.

Course Outline

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the Principles of Process Control using Process, Measurement, Control, and Correct (PMCC) concept
  2. Interpret Process Variable (PV), Set Point (SP) and Output (OP) of a control loop
  3. Explain the Principles of Different Control Loops

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet either criterion:

1)   Process Technician in a Chemical Manufacturing plant, with several years of experience but does not possess formal qualification in Chemical Engineering

2)   Laboratory Analyst, Maintenance Technician, or Safety Personnel in a Chemical Manufacturing plant, seeking a career switch to Process Technician

3)   New Engineer, working in either the Chemical industry or a company supporting it, while interested in familiarising himself/herself with Chemical Process Operations and Control

4)   Possesses GCE ‘N’, ‘O’ level, or ITE certification, with knowledge of basic Sciences equivalent to Lower Secondary Level

Must Possess Basic Level of Literacy in English and Numeracy

Certification / Accreditation

• Certificate of Attendance (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who meet at least 75% attendance rate

• Certificate of Completion (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment and meet at least 75% attendance rate
