Are you planning to venture into the Biomedical and healthcare industry? If you are a mid-career professional in this industry, are you looking into deepening your skills to meet the demands brought about by the digitalization and advancements in technology in the biomedical engineering, medical technology and healthcare sectors?
The School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering offers the Specialist Diploma in Biomedical Engineering as a part-time course. This course is designed for technologists and engineers who like to be trained or re-trained in biomedical engineering.
This course aims to provide adult learners with practical knowledge and understanding of biomedical engineering as applied to the healthcare industries such as hospitals, companies that manufacture, service and market medical equipment and medical research centres.
With the evolving needs of the Biomedical and healthcare industry, this course has been brought up-to-date with the introduction of new topics that include:
(i) Data analytics in healthcare
(ii) Cybersecurity in healthcare
(iii) Safety & quality assurance
(iv) IoT in healthcare industry
(v) Medical Informatics
(vi) Emerging trends in medical technology

Participants are required to bring their personal computer notebook during practical sessions to access e-learning materials, write reports, etc.
This course is a one-year part-time evenings-only programme. It consists of 2 Post Diploma Certificates (PDC) of 15 weeks each, conducted over 2 semesters, 1 PDC per semester. Each PDC will consist of two modules and the details are as follows:
