Course Objective

This course aims to develop students with the competency required for a secured deployment of Industrial Control Systems (ICS) in manufacturing facilities and in critical infrastructure. Upon completing the course, students will be able to make a differentiation between Operation Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) cyber-security, and be equipped with critical knowledge and skills to identify cyber threats to ICS and propose solutions for cyber security.

Course Outline

The course is a one-year part-time programme. This modular certificate course is presented through lectures and practical sessions. Participants will undergo a structured 12-month programme over 2-semester periods. Conceptual knowledge and principles are presented in lectures while practical and mini-projects reinforce the understanding. Learning outcomes are tested by way of written tests, quizzes, assignments, practical tests and projects.

It consists of 2 Post Diploma Certificates (PDC) conducted over 2 semesters, 1 PDC per semester. The classes are conducted in the evening.

Each PDC consists of two modules and the details are as follows:

PDC 1 Certificate in Industrial Control Systems and Cybersecurity Operations
Module 1 – Industrial Control Systems
Module 2 – Cybersecurity Operations*

PDC 2 Certificate in Industrial Control Systems and Computer Network Security
Module 1 – Industrial Control Systems Security
Module 2 – Computer Network Security

*Cybersecurity Operations is taught via the industry Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate Academy programme. The module prepares students to take this certification examination which is recognised by ICT sector globally.

Suitable for

This course is specially designed for graduates from different engineering and technology to be cross-trained for ICS, networks and cybersecurity. Over the years, many have been in manufacturing and plants with traditional ICS without linkages to internet. There are also many in IT fields who are not familiar with ICS. The modules are have been carefully selected to address the necessary skills and knowledge required by professionals to secure ICS from evolving cyber-security threats.
