The SP Business School is pleased to introduce our new Specialist Diploma in Professional Accounting & Technology. This is a part-time course comprising of 2 separate Post Diploma Certificate (PDC) courses that may be completed in the shortest possible time of one year or over 2 semesters. Each PDC course comprises of 3 modules delivering the knowledge content equivalent to intermediate level of professional accountancy qualifications.

Participants are required to bring computer Notebook when attending lessons, as you may need it to access the e-learning materials, writing reports, etc.

Course Objective

This course seeks to provide deepening of technical knowledge and skills required by the accountancy profession (in areas of International Financial Reporting Standards, auditing and taxation) as well as finance and technological skills needed by the profession. With deepening of the accounting skills coupled with technological skills, the graduate would be better equipped for the accounting sector.

Course Outline

The course consists of six modules conducted over two semesters within one academic year.  Classes will be conducted in three evenings per week for 15 weeks each semester.  It consists of 2 Post Diploma Certificates (PDC) conducted over 2 semesters, 1 PDC per semester. The first PDC to start with is PDC1. Each PDC will consist of three modules and the details are as follows:

PDC 1 Certificate in Professional Accounting
Module 1 – Financial Accounting and Reporting
Module 2 – Professional Auditing
Module 3 – Tax Management

PDC 2 Certificate in Finance & Technology in Accounting
Module 1 – Financial Planning and Analysis 
Module 2 – Accounting Analytics
Module 3 – Technology and Change Management

Minimum Requirements

Applicants need to have a minimum Accountancy or Business-related Diploma from recognised institutions.

Applicants with a degree or diploma from other disciplines must have at least 1 year of working experience in an accounting or business-related area.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least 5 years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.

Certification / Accreditation


Upon completion of the modules in each semester, the participant will be awarded one Post-Diploma Certificates (PDC) respectively. Upon successfully acquiring the two PDCs within a two-year validity period, the participant will be conferred a Specialist Diploma qualification from Singapore Polytechnic.

Suitable for

The course is suitable for working professionals in the accountancy sector who do not hold a professional accountancy qualification, and will provide them the opportunity to deepen their skills and knowledge relevant to their employment either in professional accounting firms or accounting and finance functions of their organisations.

Fresh accountancy diploma holders and those who are currently not engaged in accounting related employment may deepen their prior accounting knowledge through this course so as to enhance their employability in the accountancy sector.

In addition, participants may also benefit from relevant topics covered in the course to prepare for examinations conducted by professional accountancy bodies.
