Participants will be equipped with the critical knowledge and competencies for developing a comprehensive Carbon Management plan. Leveraging Science-based methodologies for reducing and removing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, this course considers emerging and predicted climatic conditions, ensuring a robust, well-resourced plan employing full support of Top Management, facilitating effective and efficient implementation.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to: - Outline the impact of climate change and organisations’ role of mitigating and adapting to it.
- Define and develop a framework implementing a Carbon Management Plan and obtain Top Management buy-in.
- Determine a suitable GHG reporting boundary; taking into account emission scopes and life cycle perspective.
- Plan data collection and calculate GHG emissions.
- Define and support the formation and establishment of an Implementation team.
- Describe resources, support, and competence the Implementation team requires.
- Outline key differences between ISO 14064-1 vs GHG Protocol
- Integrate ISO 14064-1 requirements into related Management systems, such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.
- Establish the role of Top Management and evaluate their commitment to Carbon Management planning.
- Identify and plan a range of actions to mitigate GHG emissions, including GHG reductions, GHG removals, and actions by others.
- Develop credible baseline scenarios demonstrating reduction and removal of future GHG emissions.
- Identify and assess climate change risks, for determining climate action (Mitigation vs Adaptation).
- Document and assess effectiveness of Carbon Management plans.

To be awarded a certified Greenhouse Gas Practitioner qualification and a BSI Mark of Trust, participants need to register, complete and pass all assessments for the following courses:
- Greenhouse Gas Requirements (ISO 14064-1:2018) leading to Greenhouse Gas Practitioner
- Carbon Management Planning leading to Greenhouse Gas Practitioner
- Greenhouse Gas Verification and Validation (ISO 14064-3:2019) leading to Greenhouse Gas Practitioner
Note: Participants are required to register for the above 3 courses at the same time. Thereafter, they are required to complete and pass their assessments in sequence to be awarded the qualification.

After obtaining the certified Greenhouse Gas Practitioner qualification, participants may proceed to the next step of attaining the BSI-certified Greenhouse Gas Professional qualification by completing and passing all assessments for the following courses:
1. Quantifying the Carbon Footprint of Products (ISO 14067-1:2018) leading to Greenhouse Gas Professional
2. Climate Change Management – Carbon Neutrality (ISO 14068-1:2023) leading to Greenhouse Gas Professional
