​​This course provides a thorough introduction to utilise Python with Microsoft Excel for sophisticated data analysis and task automation for manufacturing processes. The course shows participants how to construct and manipulate workbooks and sheets while introducing the fundamentals of Excel automation using Python modules like openpyxl. To insert and format data, the participants will learn how to combine and separate cells, add comments, and use conditional formatting. In addition, the course covers how to apply formulas and data validation in Excel, as well as a variety of chart styles, such as column, line, pie, and bubble charts.​ 

Course Objective

The course will equip participants with core technical knowledge related to common Additive Manufacturing practices. They will get to know the process flow of the technology with a facility tour of SP Innovation Centre for Additive Manufacturing.

Course Outline

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  1. Apply Microsoft Excel visualisation tools for Manufacturing Data Analysis
  2. Automate Excel tasks of manufacturing process using Python-based libraries, like openpyxl
  3. Manipulate data, tables, and images in Excel using Python
  4. Handle Excel files using Python in read-only or write-only modes
  5. Setup print settings in Excel
  6. Generate various types of charts such as columns, lines, bars, areas, and combos using Python
  7. Filter and sort data in Excel for better data analysis
  8. Use formulas to perform calculations in Excel
