Course Objective

This course aims to equip manufacturing professionals with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital transformation landscape. Participants will explore a range of cutting-edge technologies that are revolutionising the industry and how to leverage them to optimise your workplace.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Industry 4.0 concepts and explore how emerging technologies can optimise and streamline manufacturing processes. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on exercises, and case studies, participants can gain hands-on experience with key tools like Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), networking, web development, and testing procedures.

2. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
• Introduction to PLC programming software
• Normally Open, Normally Closed, and other PLC instructions
• Programming a simple conveyor belt

3. Networking and Webserver
• Understanding the network architecture
• Setting up the webserver
• Setting up the router

4. Webpage
• Creating a basic webpage using HTML
• Adding elements to read and write PLC signals

5. Integration and Testing
• Integrating PLC and Webpage
• Communicating with the PLC via your mobile phone
• Perform simple testing

6. Digital Transformation for workplace
• How Digital Transformation can be implemented at workplace
• How to be prepared for Digital Transformation

Minimum Requirements

Technical background such as Higher Nitec, Diploma or Post-Diploma in engineering or information technology.

Certification / Accreditation


• Certificate of Attendance (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who meet at least 75% attendance rate

• Certificate of Completion (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment and meet at least 75% attendance rate

Mr. Tony Suah

Mr. Tony Suah is a lecturer from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He has 10 years of working experience with broad knowledge in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Industrial Robots, and Web Programming. Tony holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Degree from Nanyang Technological University.
