This course will provide an overview of Kata framework and its Workplace Learning applications, to participants. It aims developing effective Coaching techniques with these key questions:

  • What is your goal?
  • What is the current situation?
  • What obstacles are preventing you from reaching the goal?
  • What is your next step, and what do you expect?
  • When we can see what you have learned?

Strategies, to integrate Kata routines in daily workflows, is included for aligning improvement efforts with organisational goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); sustaining a culture of problem-solving and Workplace Learning. Additionally, participants will do Role-Playing exercises, based on provided case studies. They both coach and be coached to develop their confidence for applying this framework to real-world challenges for Workplace Learning.

Course Objective

This course is designed for working professionals, from a wide range of industries, interested in learning the principles of Coaching Kata to identify and solve complex problems. Whether you are a Manager, Team Leader, or Individual Contributor, this course will well-equip you with key knowledge and techniques, focusing on systematically achieving goals through experimentation and reflection. Designed with a structured format, you will easily replicate all teachings across teams and departments as well. Kata Coaching goes beyond traditional methods by focusing on Mindset Transformation, from empowerment and developing systematic approaches to Workplace Learning. Participants will develop ability to independently solve problems, shifting reliance away from coaches and cultivate self-sufficiency. Additionally, participants will adopt a systematic approach to overall learning, from this course.

Course Outline

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  1. Independently conduct the Coaching Kata routine.
  2. Understand how Kata fosters Workplace Learning and continuous improvement through Coaching.
  3. Apply Coaching Kata in real scenarios, based on the Five Coaching questions.
  4. Assess the current situation to identify workplace challenges.
  5. Create a structured Kata tailored to their workplaces.
  6. Evaluate their progress with Plan-Do-Check-Adjust (PDCA) mindset.
